What is the Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows Program 2024
- The Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows Program is a nine-month training program for young professionals who have a keen interest in policymaking, with a focus on biodiversity governance in Africa.
- The program is offered by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
- The program aims to better organise and articulate the African voice in continental and international forums in pursuit of African Union Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want,” whose aspirations emphasise the role of nature and biodiversity in transforming the continent’s sustainable development.
- Only 15 fellows will be selected

Criteria | Eligibility |

Nationality | Nationals of African countries living and working in Africa |
Academic Requirement | At least 1st university degree in relevant fields; experience considered |
Experience | Minimum of two years in biodiversity conservation or management |
Commitment | Full commitment to attend course, participate in travel, and provide support to negotiators |
Language Skills | Basic English proficiency; translation support for francophone candidates |
Selection Limit | Only 15 fellows will be selected |
Exclusions | Not for those seeking to write government policy documents; requires commitment to intensive activities in policy negotiations |
